Meet the skin magician Melanie Grant
Melanie Grant’s ethos is built on confidence, not camouflage; helping women to magnify their natural beauty and not mask it. Women swear by her and she is known to transform the dullest skin into something rather wonderful. She is the secret weapon to many models, actors and fashion elite and has steadily honed her craft to become one of Sydney’s most magical and exciting skin specialists.
ON HER APPROACH TO BEAUTY
My approach is forever changing, right now I think of it as Clinical Beauty. I’ve always had a love for beauty - and the effort that goes towards making something beautiful. This is my nature. In my career, I’ve grown up predominantly in a clinical results-oriented environment. This is my nurture. I’ve taken principles and disciplines that I think are the best from both these worlds and produced something that I hope is both appealing and useful to my clients.
THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR SKIN
Eat well, avoid stress and protect your skin from the sun.
GAME CHANGING BEAUTY PRODUCTS
For the moment it’s definitely serums - specifically those with antioxidants, retinol and human growth factors. These are what really change, correct and enhance the skin.. They have a super high concentration of active ingredients and penetrate the skin more effectively than a cream or an oil…
THE MOST REWARDING PART OF HER BUSINESS
I have a job I love, love, love doing and I'm blessed with great clients who really get the journey we go on together. Honestly the whole business - something that is truly me - is a reward.
HER VIEW ON THE OBSESSION WITH SELF-IMAGE DUE TO SOCIAL MEDIA
Gosh! Where do I start!!! Social media may be quite new for us, but I feel the way we behave is just part of the human condition. It’s normal. We’re always interested in how we look, how we compare to others, how we try and fit in and yet stand out at the same time. Technology has just given us a new tools to follow these ideas through. Not that I condone or identify with a lot of the ‘image-creation’ behaviour on social media. The worst thing ever is to meet someone for the first time that you thought was really cool … and realise they are someone else completely. There's a reason why 'authenticity' is one of the the buzz-words in our world at the moment.
THE FUTURE FOR BEAUTY
Beauty will be more personal. It's already started on this path. We're inundated with images, knowledge, and technology - the What, How to, and Why - there's a flood across all fronts in 'beauty'. Niche beauty products are becoming more popular and easier to bring to market. All of this will continue, and the role of the 'specialist' to advise, curate, and personalise all of this for us will become more prevalent.
HOW SHE ESCAPES
I get on a plane with my husband and my two beautiful cheeky boys!
LIFE LESSONS SHE'S LEARNT
